n this Veteran Spotlight, allow us to introduce Maria Hull, who served from 1997 to 1999. After spending 15 years in banking, Maria was contacted by Sharp Decisions to assist a major U.S. bank in a new Quality Assurance role.
Let’s learn some more about Maria…
Maria knew from a young age that she wanted to enlist in the military; right before she graduated high school, she enlisted in the Army at 17 years old. In 1997, after graduation, Maria attended basic training followed by her Advanced Individual Training, or A.I.T., where she learned the skills necessary to complete her Army job.
Her job, MOS 27M, was to repair and perform maintenance on rocket launching tanks which were used in Operation Desert Storm. This work was integral to the safety of her fellow soldiers as she ensured that the rockets on the tanks were able to launch on command should they need to be used in combat.
In 1998, Maria was honorably discharged from the Army with the news that she was to become a mom! With this transition away from her military career, she began to work in customer service and in banking, specifically in fraud detection departments. She says of her time serving in the Army

After noticing Maria’s resume posted online, Sharp Decisions reached out to her for an exciting new job opportunity with a major U.S. bank to work in their new Quality Assurance team that was being put together. Maria said the timing of this opportunity couldn’t have been more perfect, and the fully remote workplace was important to her so she could be there for her son throughout the pandemic.
When looking back to her experience in the Army, Maria said certain quality traits she possessed her entire life were amplified under her training. “I’ve always been this way. Even as a teenager, I’ve always been on time, by the book, and got things done.” This attitude is the reason Sharp Decisions relies on our U.S. Veterans to lead the charge on various projects!
On top of working and being a mom full-time, Maria is also planning to go back to school for psychology in the Spring. After seeing first-hand the mental health issues her friends and fellow soldiers in the military face, she decided that she wants to pursue a degree in Psychology to work with veterans who need help.
Maria Hull served in the Army under MOS 27M. She was honorably discharged when she became a mother.
