Virginian-Pilot Features New Sharp Decisions Research in General Michel Op-Ed

The Virginian-Pilot featured an op-ed from our V.E.T.S. Program Advisory Board Chairman John Michel highlighting Sharp Decisions’ new research on three core misconceptions Corporate America has toward veterans with regard to their ability to seamlessly integrate into the workforce.

The first is veterans don’t have skills that translate well to the private sector; second, that they suffer from physical or mental health issues; and third, that there are not enough training resources available to efficiently and quickly make them available to businesses.

General Michel discusses why these concerns are largely without merit — and are a disservice to veterans, U.S. businesses and other parts of the U.S. economy. This is particularly true as President Donald Trump’s “Buy American, Hire American” economic policy becomes a business reality. Fewer H-1B skilled-worker visas are likely to be available, and the technology industry faces a critical talent shortage.

The bottom line is this: now is the perfect time to put more veterans to work.
